Before purchasing SensorSafe, check the information below to ensure your mobile phone & vehicle are compatible with SensorSafe.


Mobile Phone

The SensorSafe mobile app is compatible with most Apple & Android devices with the following criteria:


  • iOS 10.0 or newer
  • iPhone 6 or newer
  • iPad (Regular, Pro, and Mini)

At this time, SensorSafe is not compatible with AppleWatch.


Android operating system 5.0 or newer with Google Play Services installed.

There are many Android devices in the world. We’ve tested SensorSafe on the devices shown below and confirmed compatibility. If you do not see your device on this list, it does not mean SensorSafe will not work with your device; we just haven’t tested it yet. If you run into any issues, you can contact customer service and we can walk you through resolving them on your device.

*Huawei phones may have sporadic issues related to an unstable Bluetooth connection. Consult the SensorSafe mobile app for specific instructions for these phone models or contact for support specific to your device.

SensorSafe is not compatible with phones operating Windows OS or Blackberry OS.


Full functionality

SensorSafe is fully compatible with vehicles model year 2008 or newer with an OBD2 port in these categories:

  • Standard Gas or Diesel vehicles model year 2008 or newer
  • Non-plug in Hybrid vehicles model year 2008 or newer

You can check if your vehicle has an OBD2 port here.

*If your vehicle has a Start/Stop feature, correctly identify this in the SensorSafe mobile app. Start/Stop shuts down your vehicle’s engine upon braking; there is a specific SensorSafe mobile app setting to adjust for this.

Limited functionality

SensorSafe relies on information from your vehicles OBD2 port indicating if the car is STARTED, MOVING or STOPPED. The types of vehicles below do not transmit this information, resulting in some changes in functionality:

  • Fully electric vehicles (Examples: Tesla, Nissan Leaf, Chevrolet Bolt/Volt)
    • Tesla Model 3 – an OBD to 12V adaptor is required, as this vehicle has no OBD port
  • Plug in Hybrid Vehicles (Example: Toyota Prius)
  • Vehicles older than 2008

Child Alone alerts using the SensorSafe app are available in all vehicles. Only the following changes to functionality will apply to fully electric, plug-In hybrids & vehicles older than 2008.

  • The dongle will not emit alert chimes, alerts will come only from the mobile app
  • The “Clip Open” alert will trigger every time the clip is open, unknowing if the car is moving or not
  • The app will not display the state of motion of the vehicle

If you experience any issues with your vehicle, contact customer service as solutions may be available.

At this time, SensorSafe is not compatible with Apple Car Play or Android Auto.
